Taxidermists from around the state compete in different categories to be state champion. Feb 21-24th, 2019 in Steven's Point, WI.

    Life Size Mammal Mounting With Steve Niehaus
    Presented by Steve Niehaus -
    Steve has been a long time member and is such a talented taxidermist. Steve will be demonstrating the intricacies of mounting a Gray Fox. This unassuming quiet gentleman is one of the best that the WTA has to offer to give a seminar. This may run over into the live mounting on Saturday.

    Shooting Sporting Clays Begins
    We'll start with Shooting Sporting Clays. You will, of course, need to bring your own guns and gear. 4 boxes of shells are needed, ammo is available at the club. It's $10 for sporting clays, plus $2 if you would like to compete in the Louis Shoot, so we can gather up some prize money. Later in the day, from 2-4p, trap and skeet shooting will be open for $5 per round.

    Lunch at the Gun Club, costs $6-$8, Beverages for sale at the club, no carry ins!

    Accepting Mounts For Competition.
    Ryan Berra will also be available for some registrations on Saturday, before the judging starts.

    Whitetail Seminar with Clint Rickey
    Fresh off of his Second Best in World Whitetail showing at the World Show, Clint is willing to share with us his whitetail deer finishing techniques. We're thrilled to have Clint sharing with us, but, you guys that are into shooting will have a tough choice on whether to throw lead or take in this valuable seminar from one of the best in the world!

    Women's Outing To Door County Candle Company
    Door County Candle Shop
    A trip has been planned for the women to visit Door County Candle Shop. There is also a nice coffee shop nearby for a bite to eat and I heard rumors of a winery in the vicinity

    Outside if weather permits, bring your own drinks, ice, lawn chairs, etc. There is an inside conference room available if weather is bad.

    Door County Historical Museum Tour
    Presented by Mike Orthober -
    "Artist"; I think that the word is too casually thrown around our profession. There are some that are distinguished from most of us. From the background painting to the habitat creation to the fine taxidermy, this show piece that will never be in a show is something to see. The artist responsible — Mike Orthober who will be our host for an hour before the museum opens to the public.

    A Raptor Rehab facility will be bringing live raptors for the members to view.

    The Live Mounting Event
    Presented by Jeff Specht -
    Every summer, this thing is a hit. We get several members to mount different things all at once. You can watch the one that you really want to see or wander from one to another and pick up tons of taxidermy tips. Anyone is welcome to come and mount something. Get a customer piece knocked out while we have some fun, any skill level is welcome, maybe you'd like to work with a WTA expert to guide you. Just call Jeff Specht or Ron Grams if you would like to participate. There is a lot of room for some new people to jump into this fun afternoon's activity!

    Kid's Activity - Homemade rockets
    Presented by Ryan Wolf -
    Our tallest kid, and little known rocket scientist, Ryan Wolf will be building and launching rockets with the kids! Ryan has assured us that this is for all ages and no flame retardant clothing will be needed - some one get the video rolling! ( Seriously, this will be fun and safe for the kids and no head count is necessary for the kids to take part)

    Ladies Activity - Essential Healing Oils
    AmericInn conference room
    In the conference room at the AmericInn, the ladies will be learning how to make and use essential oils. There should be enough made during the demonstration, for everyone to take a little home with them!

    WTA Picnic
    Fish boil 12-15$, 5$ for children, please call the Orthobers at (920)743-1827, a head count is needed by July 29 for ordering the fish. Hotdogs and hamburgers will be available also.

    Following the picnic will be the WTA Social
    Again at the AmericInn, bring your own drinks, coolers, lawn chairs, etc. to enjoy the summer evening! Also a cackling hens party, bring a wine to share!
