Fall 2018 President's Message

Hey Fellow Members,

Another rendezvous is in the books. What a great time in Door County! Such a beautiful side of the state.

Special thanks to Mike and Lori Orthober for hosting, organizing the lunches, and of course the traditional Fish boils. They surely will be missed. Getting together with friends and shooting sporting clays is something I don't do much of, but I have to say I have improved. Who knows maybe one day I'll take up a sport of shooting birds that don't have beards.

Another special thanks to our members that gave seminars and for the members that competed. After all that's what we do. We come to learn and then we show what we've learned in our work.

As I write this we are about one week away from the Wisconsin black bear opener. I wish everyone a prosperous Taxidermy season and may all your freezers be full.

Remember to book your rooms early at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point for the State Championships. Watch your insight for the block code for the WTA. Well, that's it for now. I hope you have some idea of what you're going to compete with this year.

Hope to see you all this February. Good luck this fall and remember to introduce someone new to the outdoors.

Watch your bobber,

Summer 2018 Presidents Message

Hey Fellow Members,

Wasn't that a dragged out winter / spring combination? The spring turkey hunt was about two weeks behind and opening day of fishing found anglers looking for soft water rather than the hard variety. Here we are now full swing into summer and I dare to say it's almost too hot. It's going to be a fast summer, I feel like we've lost a month which in turn means the August Rendezvous will be right around the corner.

Be sure to book your rooms early for the Rendezvous, the Insight has hotel and booking information. Rooms will fill up fast with vacationers. This year's schedule is a little different from past Rendezvous', we are trying to streamline it to get everything accomplished by the end of Saturday, that means Sunday you are free to leave or go sightseeing.

If you never attended the Rendezvous, I encourage you to come on out. The mini competition is open to all animals, bring a display piece from your shop, get a critique and who knows you might get a ribbon. It's a very laid-back and casual competition if you're just starting out, this is a good one to get into. After all, we are all here to learn.

Fall 2017 President's Message

Hey Fellow Members,

Where did summer go? Another Rendezvous is in the books. A special thanks to Mike and Lori Orthober for hosting the WTA's Rendezvous in Door County.

It sure was great to see old friends and catch up. Also another special thanks goes out to all the people that made it run smoothly, from entertaining the kids to having great seminar schedules and the live mounting sessions. There was a lot to learn from some of the states top taxidermists.

At our general meeting on Sunday, we have decided to have it again in Sturgeon Bay. This may be your last chance to enjoy some of door County's finest sites and sounds and of course the great food.
